Because yesterday, Monday, was Republic Day in India, we were able to meet all of the kids when we went to the campus for the first time. What fun it was to be a part of the day and to be greeted by ALL of the kids! After the flag raising, we had a full day of time with the youth, playing with the kids, eating with our hands, and telling stories at Bible time. Needless to say ... we were tired at the end of the day! But it was not over yet! We still needed to get home, which is about one hour drive ... depending on traffic and who is driving. We got home at 10:40pm! We both slept well and are just waiting now to start our first day of a "regular" scheduled day. We must be off now but will write again when we can. Just wanted to give a quick update and let you know we were alive and well.
Thanks for all of your comments and prayers. We appreciate them all.

You all are being prayed for so know you are not alone in your mission. Yesterday we introduced our theme for the year at FBC: ASSURED. The verse we claimed is Isaiah 41:10 "Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will hold you up with my righteous right hand." We will claim those promises for you as we pillow our heads tonight.
ReplyDeleteLots of love from the Witte home.
Ps. I thought your last blog was a real hoot and got a really good belly laugh from it. I giggled and jiggled...all because of you two. :)--gw
You girls aren't the ones doing the driving, right? Aren't the kids just adorible? Gagan & Simran got their first hair cut this week and we are going to get a puppy! We just have to wait for them to be old enough to take home! Love you Guys! LANA
ReplyDelete"But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31
ReplyDeletePraying that God will give you both energy and wisdom as you begin to teach and minister to the kids, students, and faculty on campus. Rest in Him!
Thanks for the update. Thinking and praying for you often! I can't imagine seeing all those kids for the first time...maybe someday :)
ReplyDeleteEve a - if you re-read your post, you will see why I'm going to have to give you a bad time when you get back! Hope the "flag raising" went well :).

ReplyDeleteEve a and Phyllis,
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear your voices yesterday. I prayed that today was a good day of teaching and that this week you will get more settled in to a routine. What a joy to see the two of you serving the needs of 64 orphan children who are calling Bethesda home. Thanks again for being the hands and feet of Jesus. I'm glad the Punjabi's are becoming a favorite to wear, aren't they comfy!!!
We love you both and continue to pray that God would meet your needs. Enjoy the warmth, it was about 5 above today, Burr!!!
Have a great week,
Gene, Cheryl and Girls

ReplyDeleteEve a and Phyllis,
ReplyDeleteWe are praying for you and keeping close tabs on you. Remember God does not call the equipped, He equips the called.
For those of you reading the blog and not seeing current postings, don't get discouraged. The gals are fine and I spoke with Irene Eda this morning, overseas director of Bethesda Children's Home. Internet access is limited to mostly weekends and they are dependent on the Eda's computer right now for this. They are going to try to get internet hook up for them, but that has not happened yet.
They hired a driver last week for three days which enabled them to travel back and forth to the children's home leaving early in the morning and returning late in the evening. Long days for them, but they were able to have full school days with the children. Eve a started sewing classes on Friday with some of the girls and Irene sat in on these as well!! They are excited and it will be a great help if the girls can begin making some of the clothing for the children.
Phyllis continues teaching and evaluating where the children are at in their learning. It is a one room school house with preschool all the way up. Phyllis was able to purchase some Indian school books at a local bookstore so she can compare our curriculum with theirs.
Irene is so pleased with the work they are doing and is blessed beyond words with their sweet spirits and servants heart.
Pray for continued health, rest and strength. They are doing great with eating with their fingers and tolerating the Indian food well.
Keep posting notes on the blog for them, they will get them!! Feel free to go to www.childrensopportunity.org website and drop us a note if you have any questions.
Thanks for all your prayers for the ladies, continue to pray for guidance and daily wisdom for both of them.
Blessings,
Cheryl Witte
